Please note that when a piece of baggage exceeds the total dimension of 158cm (height + length + width), a charge of USD 50 per oversized bag will be charged. Each piece of hand baggage must weigh no more than 7 kg and measure no more than a total of 115cm (l+h+w). In Economy Class, passengers are allowed one piece of hand baggage. In Business Class, passengers are allowed 2 pieces of hand baggage.

Passengers who need assistance from their mobility aids will be allowed to carry them free of charge over and above the checked and hand luggage allowance irrespective of their cabin class. (Conditions apply).
Large or heavy items (e.g. wheel chairs) may need to be carried as checked baggage. Please advise your requirements at the time of booking in order to ensure special handling arrangements at airport/s.
The mobile phones are permitted to be used on SriLankan Airlines flights in aircraft mode (Flight Mode) and on aircraft with satellite communication facilities.
On both occasions, the use shall be restricted during the critical phases of the flight as they can interfere with the aircraft's navigational equipment.

We accept Bulky Baggage (Musical Instruments, Diplomatic Mail, etc..) on passenger seats. A maximum weight of 75 kg is permitted to be carried on a passenger seat as “Seat Baggage”.

Domestic animals such as cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and ornamental fish can be accepted for carriage as checked baggage. Animals of an unusual size or nature such as monkeys, snakes etc... cannot be carried as checked baggage. They shall only be processed through SriLankan Cargo. Restrictions/ Conditions apply.
Some SriLankan Airlines aircraft do not have the facility of carrying pets in the aircraft cargo hold due to heating conditions. Hence please intimate your Ticketing Agent of the pets carriage as space need to be protected in the aircraft hold and to request to arrange an aircraft which has the facility of carrying pets. There may be situations that we may not be able to honour your pet’s request due non-availability of an aircraft with heating facility on the day that you intend travel.
Pets carried as checked baggage shall be charged at the normal excess baggage rate for the pet and the container (cage) along with any food items irrespective of the Free Baggage Allowance.
The passenger is fully responsible to comply with customs and other government requirements of all destination and transit points. Valid vaccination certificates, import/export/transit permits etc… must be presented at the time of reservation and at airport/s.
Passengers having onward connections should get confirmation from the onward airline(s) that the pet will be accommodated for beyond travel. SriLankan Airlines only holds responsibility in carrying the pet on SriLankan Airlines operated sector(s).
Acceptance of pets for carriage is subject to the passenger accepting full responsibility for the animal. SriLankan Airlines shall not be liable for injury, loss, delay, sickness or death of the animal/bird and in the event it is refused entry into transit points and/or the destination. Service Animals (Seeing Eye/Hearing Dogs) can only accompany passengers whose vision or hearing is impaired and s/he is actually dependent on the dog.
Any disabled passenger who is actually dependent on such a dog, traveling on a continuous journey in the same aircraft or with a single flight number that begins or ends at a U.S. airport is entitled to travel with a Guide/Assistant dog
Such a dog is permitted in the Business and Economy Class cabins at no extra charge. However, IATA Live Animal regulations shall apply for the carriage of the service animal.

Passenger must be prepared to provide credible verbal assurance that the animal is providing a service to assist with a disability.
The passenger must ensure that the accompanying animal will not need to relieve itself during the flight or that the passenger can adequately manage the dog’s waste without creating any health and sanitation issue on the flight. He/she must bring whatever absorbent or other material required for this purpose.
The passenger must ensure that the animal is prepared for the flight by exercising the dog and limiting its fluid intake before the flight.

The Service Animal, however, cannot be seated where it may obstruct aisle or emergency exit areas or affect the leg space of the passenger seated adjoining. If the Service Animal cannot be accommodated at the seat location along with passenger, due to the Service Animal being disruptive or too large to fit under the seat or at the passenger's feet without encroaching on another passenger's space or protruding into the aisle, it will need to travel in a kennel (provided by the passenger) in the aircraft cargo hold free of charge. The kennel must meet IATA kennel and size requirements for the animal to ensure temperature restrictions are met for the safety of the Service Animal. Only one Service Animal is permitted to book and travel on a SriLankan flight. Always check with the Ticketing Agent.
With respect to travel on a continuous journey in the same aircraft or with a single flight number that begins or ends at a U.S. airport, the passenger has the opportunity to move with the animal to another seat location, if present on the aircraft, where the animal can be accommodated.
Since SriLankan Airlines has a limitation in certain aircraft cargo holds in accommodating Live Animals due to heating conditions, in order to avoid disappointment, it is extremely important that the Service Animal is booked within the given stipulated timelines in case the Service Animal needs to be loaded into the aircraft cargo hold.

Baggage shall not be interlined to Domestic points within the same country.
Dangerous Goods or hazardous material (HAZMAT) are items that due to their chemical or physical qualities could danger the safety of an aircraft or person on board the aircraft. The transportation of such items is restricted and governed by the Civil Aviation Regulations. SriLankan Airlines restricts all small vehicles powered by lithium batteries to be transported as checked –in or carry- on luggage. Dangerous Goods must not be carried in (or as) passenger or crew –checked baggage or carry-on baggage, except as indicated in the table below.

*Power Banks are permitted in carry- on baggage only. Passenger who travel with smart bag ( Baggage equipped with a lithium battery) must remove the battery in case the bag has to check-in as hold baggage. If the battery cannot be removed, the bag will not be allowed.
Phones, laptops and tablets larger than 16.0cm x 9.3cm x 1.5cm not allowed in the cabin on flights to the UK from Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tunisia.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a security directive requiring passengers on select flights to the United States to place all electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smart phone in their checked luggage with the exception of spare batteries, medical devices and power banks.
This requirement only affects flights departing for the United States from the following 10 specific airports:
There is no impact on domestic flights in the United States or flights departing the United States. Large electronic devices will continue to be allowed in the cabin on all flights originating in the United States.
The new security directive is effective at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on 21 March 2017 and will be in effect indefinitely.

In accordance with the regulations stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the following LAGs (liquids, aerosols and gels) restrictions on cabin baggage apply for passengers departing from all airports in Sri Lanka and transiting through other airports.
All liquids, gels and aerosols, pastes, lotions, creams, drinks and other items of similar consistency must be in containers with a capacity no greater than 100ml. Those carried in containers larger than 100ml will not be accepted, even if the container is only part-filled.
These containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding one liter (20cmx20cm). Larger bags or bags that are non-sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags, are not allowed. Transparent re-sealable polythene bags will not be provided at the Airport
The containers must fit comfortably within the transparent plastic bag, which is to be completely closed.
The plastic bag is to be presented for visual examination at the screening point. Only one transparent plastic bag per passenger will be permitted.
Exemptions will be made for medications, baby milk / foods and special dietary requirements. Appropriate proof for verifying the nature of such items will be required and must be made available on request at the screening point.
Such plastic bags should be presented apart from other cabin baggage, coats, jackets and laptops to facilitate screening.
LAGs in any volume, purchased at Duty Free outlets at the Airport or on board the aircraft must be carried in the Security Tamper-Evident Bag (STEB) provided by the sales outlet with the purchase receipt included inside the bag. Opened, torn or tampered bags will not be permitted past the screening point.
As per Australian Government regulations, Carriage of LAGS items (liquids, aerosols and gels ) of 100ml or less and permissible number units/items, shall carried in the Tamper proof bag. Any LAGS item above 100ml even if it was purchased from the duty-free, shall not be allowed even if it is carried in the Tamper proof bag. Any such items in possession of passengers on UL direct flights to Australia will be confiscated by AASL Security.
